Perhaps one of the most amazing and creative artists in the world.
Olaf Hakek makes each of his works true masterpieces that have
captivated great clients and enthusiasts around the world. A multidisciplinary artist who
is inspired by the most unsuspected nature and
cultures and who manages to capture with extreme detail and vibrant colours
in each of his tableaux.
When words are not enough. We called Olaf shortly after coming back from
Mallorca, where he had an exhibition going on, a very different market indeed, but the perfect
timing to escape from the hectic life of Berlin. Just before the pandemic he found a place in
Mallorca and we talked to him immediately after the renovation.
It is very difficult to define Olaf’s professional profile, he is an illustrator, a graphic designer, a
painter, an author. I guess we could say he is an artist, but somehow that word doesn’t even sum
up everything he is. He had a love for art from the very
beginning and he knew that he was going to dedicate his life to it. After
his parents didn’t allow him to study Arts, he went for graphic design at
the University of Applied Sciences in Düsseldorf. Illustration wasn’t a big part
of his life then, but he knew that graphic design wasn’t the path to follow.
He quickly moved to Amsterdam where he finished his degree and started working as a freelance artist. The success was little but the exciting road had already been found. In some way, we could define him as a nomad, someone moved by culture, who finds his inspiration on travels, who sees art in obvious places, who finds the essence in the art of the unknown.
