ANDREW GEORGIADES

Andrew Georgiades is an English model, a passionate for photography and a creator, who has just signed with a new creative agency, The Society NYC, and who keeps expanding his creativity.

Why did you start modeling?
When I was at University, I was working part-time at Hollister, and I got scouted. When I finished my Design and Advertising degree, I signed with an agency (I was 21 back then). I had no plans to be a model, I feel very comfortable in front of the camera, and I had my passion for photography in mind, wherever I could apply it.. Everything kind of went hand in hand, because when I was on set, I talked to the stylist and to the photographers, absorbing information from them. For me, it was like going to school. That’s why modeling was my way in to what I’m doing now. I kind of figured that this was where I was meant to be.
What does your work mean to you?
My work means everything to me because I just want to be the best version of myself, I want to make myself proud and I only try to compare myself to myself. I try not to look to what other people are doing, I just think “next year I want to make this a successful year”. I live by that kind of philosophy because my work does mean everything to me and I don’t see it as work, I see it as my life. For someone who does what I do, whether it’s modeling or talent, you must be in it because it means everything to you. You wake up in the morning and you must have that self-motivation to push forward and not be complacent or settled where you are. I think what makes people in our industry succeed is that drive to better themselves. I just want to create and inspire people.

How did you start expanding your creativity?

It wasn’t until I moved to Wilhelmina, where my agent was very supportive of what I wanted to do. Social media was starting to get bigger, and there were a lot more opportunities to come out of the box, i.e., people put you in a box or label, which can be quite restricting for creative sue, and one of the good things about social media is that allows you to express everything that you do, and it isn’t just about how good you look.
